Individual reflections

In this post I will be talking about my individual relfection on my progress and ideas which I have; I believe that this is very important as it enables me to express how I feel about what I have done, and how I can improve till this date.

Personally, I believe that I have not contributed as much as I could have to the group and the work which I have produced is not to the best of my ability, however, due to the circumstances I believe that I could have done better in the blogging aspect and the filming aspect of this project.

After analysing lots of opening sequences on sound and camera, I have gathered lots of new ideas which I wish I could implement onto the film which we are creating. However, due to the lack of effort which I had put in - I feel like this will not be the best project I have taken on.

On the other hand, the knowledge which I have gathered throughout the duration of this project and the skills which I have developed are extremely helpful and I am certain that I can apply to everyday situation, and to help other people in life and to help them progress.

Analysing the cuts and sounds has become an everyday skill for me now, every movie which I watch I have to comment on the cut which they use, and the shot which they take and if I could have done it better in my head.

Target Audience: Gangster

Due to the genre of our film being Gangster/bullying, we will be aiming this at young teens who are ages between 13-18 but this film will be rated are 12, due to the language which may be used.

After doing some research we found that many films which are Gangster themed, are rated around 15 as they involve foul language, we also believe that having such a low rated film may educate the young to avoid being bullied and how to react accordingly to it.

Also, the research also showed that the viewers tend to be mainly in England, so we plan to use British terminology in this film, and involve a lot of action and chase as many teenagers are thrill seekers and would like to watch something they can relate to.

Making the Movie Title with Fahad

Today me and Fahad decided to make the movie title using LiveType as it is a new programme which we started to use. To save time in the future we tried to make it soon as possible as the group had decided the name.

We picked a specific font which we felt was nice and suited the purpose, and changed the colours and background. We ended up with Red font on a Black background.

Self review on LiveType

Today's group production was really helpful as I have learnt a new software and how to manage/use it.

I plan to spend time outside the meetings and lessons to expand and increase my knowledge of this software, I am sure that this will benefit the group and save time since we have lost majority of our work.

Movie Title

Today in our meeting we decided to call the film "The Victim" as it felt neccessary and it suited the film; the other suggestions which we had was "The Target" and "Suicide". However, due to majority vote "The Victim" won.

The reason behind the name is the fact a character gets bullied at school and decides to commit suicide; however, the twist is the brother of the victim who died wants to get revenge upon the bullies.

Film Questionnaire Results.

We found out that main age group who would be interested to view our film are based around the 16-18, this was decided as 47% of the interviewees claimed to be in that age group.

Also, we had to find out if the main target audience would be male or female, 89% of the results showed that they are males, and they would be interested in viewing our film.

We also found out that highest percentage of favourite genre is Action and Drama.

And the final question we asked is to find out the budget of our film, we identified that 87% of the viewers would like to watch the film at home on TV, this allowed us to see that the budget which we set must be low.

Self review on showcase (7th)

In todays lesson we were required to show the progress which he had made with our film, this had to be done in order to know where we can improve and what is left to do. Also, another reason for doing this was for us to obtain inspiration for other peoples opening sequence and attempt to use it in ours if we liked it.

The main response which we got was good, but we realised after trying to evaluate our own work is that we definately needed to put more work in and refilm everything which felt needed to be; this had to be done in order to achieve smooth cuts. I believe that this session was extremely helpful as it enabled us to identify what we need to do, and what others have done in order for us to compete.
