In this post I will be analysing the sounds used in this opening sequence made by AVS, this sequence was made in March 2012, and I believe that the sounds and the sequence is very close to the film which I would like to make, hence why I am going to analyse this sequence. I hope that this will give me some ideas and inspiration to use.
At the start we can clearly hear the Character on the phone to his friend asking for help, then the music changes into a dramatic tensed but not too tensed music with bass to increase the tension. Soon after at like 0:42 seconds the music changes once again into something very fast paced and intense as the character is being chased, this music carries on till about 1:45.
As soon as the character enters the lift, they use contrapuntal music to release the tension as the other character who is chasing him is running up the stairs, but this music changes between the two characters; one being very fast paced as he runs up the stairs and one being calm and relaxed as if he has nothing to worry about.
When the characters are at the roof of the "car park" the music changes into something which creates tension for the audience; as the character who is chasing points a gun at the other character who has nowhere to run.
After this analysis I would like to use the fast paced and tension building music when the character in my film are running, I believe that it builds tension for the audience.

Analysis of Kidulthood - Opening Sequence
I decided to analyse this opening sequence beause it has the same genre as our intial idea for opening sequence.
During the first 2 minutes of this film, we can see that it starts in a school - and it emphasises the characters mise-en-scene a lot. We can easily identify that this school has a sixth form attached to it as some characters are wearing school uniform but the some aren't in uniform. However, there is one character who is different to all the others as he is in a room working on something which we as the audience cannot see.
Also, due to the camera movements we can identify the main characters who will be involved in this film as they are given close ups during the first minute. We can also see that this school is a community school or a school with minimum discipine due to the actions which the characters are doing by the tree.
The music which is being played at the start of the sequence is very mysterious and suspensed, I believe this is done to emphasise the secracy of that one character who is working on something, as well as the other character who is going around asking the where abouts of another character.
For our own production, we won't be using any foul language, but we will be emphasing the fact it is a school which we will start the sequence at. Also, another aspect we can add to our sequence from this would be the mysterious sound played at the start.

Analysis of Attack the Block
Attack the Block is a movie that is based in a suburban area in London, it is based upon a group of boys who are lived upon a stereotype of thugs and chavs. These boys believe that they "Run the block" - they aim to keep a reputation and be the most intimidating group of youths in the block until it gets attacked by Aliens.
At the start we can see that it is set out at night and it begins with a shooting star flying across the sky, then a fire work explodes in the middle of the sky. We can easily identify that this is a gangster film as a female character walks out of the tube station, with black males dressed up intimidating at the entrance looking at the people who are leaving the station.
Whilst the character is walking to her house on the phone to her mum we can see that the area is very worn down and affected by grafitti, on the wall we can see a figure of two males and a firework exploding. The character then gets scared confusing the noise for a gun and the shadows for humans.
The character then notices a group of males - which we can notice are an important characters part of the movie, we can see that she is scared as her gestures are to hide her phone so that the youths dont take her phone.
We can also identify that the characters are teenagers who live in the estate due to the language which they use, the language which they use is known as street and it is usually associated with thugs. Shortly after the female gets robbed as the youths approachs her - the shooting star which we see at the start of the film can be seen again as it lands near the youths.

Group Work - Self Opinion
Today as a group we decided to film our starting scene with the establishing shot and a preview of what we would have whilst the credits were running on screen.
The main idea was to have a flashback idea, but i put forward an idea for the scene to be a montage of the main character walking around the school.
I felt that our group worked well and played well as a team.
